North Carolina church plans to burn Bibles on Halloween
A church in Canton, North Carolina is marking Halloween this year by burning what it calls satanic books. Many of the books on the list are versions of the Bible. picked by ruthstark 1 month ago

Seriously? I'm not very well-versed in different versions of the Bible; can someone tell me what exactly makes the King James version holier than all other versions? Is there really that much of a difference?

**sighs, bangs head on desk**

Nothin' like a good, old-fashioned book-burnin' to celebrate the Lord.

It sounds prettier.

But in fact it wasn't even popular when it was published. It was published/compiled as an attempt to bridge the gap between Protestants and Catholics for the Church of England.

On the holiness scale, it should be the same. But just like Shakespeare sounds better than Eminem to some ears (just based on the Elizabethan English compared to modern American English)... some people have a preference.

Not worth burnin'.... Rev. Grizzard would do well to look up the history of the King James version... it ain't so pretty.

Funny since the KJV Bible was certainly not the first one to come about. So all other Bibles before it were false? If they were Satanic, they certainly wouldn't have brought people to God, and if that was the case, then Christianity would have died out long before it was even conceived.

You could go into the KJV and even see references to this kind of thing (which exist in every other translation as well). Satan cannot rise up against himself, and so forth. It's sad that they would pervert Christianity like this. It's too bad that people would buy into this.

Logic + Religion = Impossible.

It's like dividing by zero, it just isn't done.

The KJV Bible is a translation, just like any other version written in English. If this 'pastor' wants to limit people to ,as he calls it, the true word of God, he needs to stick with the original Hebrew texts.

and the amusing part is, the KJV is one of the least accurate translations.
