 China regulates Buddha reincarnation
China regulates Buddha reincarnation
Tibet’s living Buddhas have been banned from reincarnation without permission from China’s atheist leaders. The ban is included in new rules intended to assert Beijing’s authority over Tibet’s restive and deeply Buddhist people. China already insists that only the Government can approve the appointments of Tibet’s two most important monks, the Dalai Lama and the Panchen Lama. picked by deepchill 2 years ago

Sure, just as soon as you explain how China going to great links to oppress all traces of religion is humorous.

I just don't have any faith in reincarnation. Banning it seems stupid to me.

There is well over one hundred million buddhists on this planet right now. They do have the faith you don't share. Is it stupid to them? Is it stupid that an entire communist, atheist nation is trying to eradicate their relgion?

And just how would the Chinese government STOP them from reincarnating?

I know they have refused to recognized certain Lamas, and have appointed their own over the ones found by the Tibetan Buddhist leaders. But this seems a little harder to enforce than the one child law....

I don't drink coffee. I drink tea.

I don't get why this isn't such a bid deal to you. I know that China has secluded themselves quite well from the rest of the world, but that is kinda the point. Huge and powerful, while eerily quiet, and still obnoxiously oppressive.

Read the article. They aren't going to stop reincarnation; they can't. They are going to punish those who admit to it without government clearance.

"For the first time China has given the Government the power to ensure that no new living Buddha can be identified..."

China kills people who don't listen.

Yeah, I got you. I just think that something as serious as this is a little more than stupid.

Last word. You seem to have a chip on your shoulder. I'm not a fan of religion(organized or otherwise). I'm not going to argue it with you here. I think you're pushing your beliefs on others, that's a no, no. Let's agree to disagree.

So because you, almighty and important you, don't give a rats ass about religion, it means that it is only funny and nothing more when China, of all places, decides to ban it? Do you not care about your fellow man at all? And as for my beliefs, I dont 'believe' that they have even been discussed here. I was just stating apparent facts about the news story. My belief: I am not buddhist but I for damn sure support their natural right to practice their faith. You not having any doesn't mean anything to anyone else.

Now if you wish to end the conversation, I believe that 'now' it over, but it sounds like you've got more issues with this to work out. I'm happy to listen.

And on what will probably be a final note, good will towards others is "NOT" pushing beliefs on them. I'm offended that you used such insulting word spin to try and make it seem like it is me who is out out of line.

I just remembered when you asked me for an apology that one time. I chuckled.
