This is wrong on so many levels. At 16 the young girl should be completely free to make up her own mind about issues of faith. I did at 16, and the idea that any one else could or should have had any responsibility for my choices is just so deeply insulting and annoying.

If the caregiver had actively supported a conversion and the child was say, 8, then there would be reasons to judge her impartiality to the girl's initial religion. Even then I would still see her dismissal from a fostering program desperately seeking volunteers as completely excessive.

I had friends who are foster parents in Canada, have been for 16 years. They were just recently told that they can't "forcefully" redirect a child from any decision, even if that decision is to commit suicide!
Of course this is England right? Couldn't happen in the USA...freedom of religion and all (sarcasm...with a slightly bitter tone I admit).
