« shuallyo : Which is why we shouldn't sign any climate treaties until China's 100% on board. From what I have read China is more on board than the US at this point and as much as these pictures are shocking I am sure you could find many similar pictures right here in North America. Again I cant point any fingers at the US living in Canada because we are just better and hiding our pollution and poverty. It is important for everyone to do their part...but what is really important is to start dealing with it rather than fighting over who is or isn't doing their part. Focus on making it right here and then we can really point fingers and offer reasonable solutions.
Plus if we figure out these "solutions" it is likely innovations and technology we can create an industry around and sell to other nations so what are we waiting for?

Wow, some amazing photographs. There are lots of places in the world where you can see this, but China's supposed to be becoming the new economic capital of the world.
These pictures show what people were expecting (and to a certain extent did find) in more developed nations in Europe and in the US some 30 years ago...
At least the fact that this competition was won by a Chinese photographer is a step in the right direction.

Amazing photographs. I'd love to see them at an exhibition, instead of on my small computer screen.
If you "enjoyed" these, and by enjoyed I mean reacted with interest and dismay or shock or your mind was partially blown or anything, I highly, highly, highly recommend Manufactured Landscapes
« shuallyo : Which is why we shouldn't sign any climate treaties until China's 100% on board. Right, so rather than be proactive about the planet, you're happy to let your country continue to kill us all just because someone else doesn't want to join?
Too bad America wouldn't take that stance toward starting a needless war!
